The man in the big feathered suit...
My childhood has possibly been ruined....but the kid in me screams " I KNEW IT... I JUST KNEW IT!!!"
Carol Spinney, the 74 year old man who is the man in the bird suit (amongst other Sesame Street Characters)...speaks.......and we see him for the first time...
So, was he anything that YOU expected?

I never realized it was the same guy all these years. He seems pretty cool, though. I can't say my childhood is affected at all because I never watched it until my daughter was a toddler. My preschool years were in the dark ages (well, black and white anyway) of Romper Room and Bozo the Clown.
Oh i saw that today on AP. I don't honestly know what I did expect. I kinda figured that after all these years big bird would take off his suit and it'd just be another big bird underneath. lol. well I don't think my childhood has been affected either. :) I still love big bird. he's my favorite. him and snuffalupogous and cookie.
@saintvi - wow...I remember Romper Room.
@TheSecretLifeOfPandas - My favorite has always been kermit.
WOW - although admittedly Sesame Street didn't make it onto our television until about 10 years ago, and it didnt last very long for some reason. I didnt know anything about it growing up!
Sorry about the possibility of your childhood being ruined....hang in there - LOL!
saintvi and ed... do you seriously remember Romper Room?? My gosh, you'd have to be really really old - like me!
I was disillusioned with RR. Miss Whoever-She-Was never once saw me in her Magic Mirror... THAT ruined my childhood...
I love Sesame Street. I don't care about the "inner" Big Bird... i'm a geezer in disguise, too!!
@grandmakitty - LOL...yeah, she didn't see me once either...but she kept seeing my older brother.
I don't care for Elmo...as I'm of the Kermit the Frog Sesame Street generation...
Wow, that was a little creepy to see the guy do the Big Bird voice without having the suit on!
Dude I just saw you found my site by searching "Xangalebrity"! Sweet!
@Dare2BDiferentt - Yeah, I forgot who started the challenge...then after looking it up...I remembered....it was pretty cool.
Never wondered about this before. This makes me think of Otherland by Tad Williams.
We had a popular character in Sweden, a big bear and there was an uproar when the guy in the costume was made public - like it'd ruin it for the kids.
RYC: I always thought it was frustration because your computer froze in the middle of a brilliant entry.
@Dare2BDiferentt - yeah...either that or IE shutdown...and the same thing occurred.
@edlives - I lost count of how many brilliant entries I have lost because of computer failure.
@Dare2BDiferentt - this profile pic is sooo dumb but I can't help but laugh
@Dare2BDiferentt - looks like you're throwin' out a "WEST SIDE" sign...
Wow, I didn't know what to expect, but that was pretty surprising. I didn't know that Sesame Street had been around that long, or that it was the same guy as Big Bird and Oscar all that time (or even that both voices were done by the same person), or that the person in the suit was really the one doing the talking too. You've made me want to watch the Sesame Street movie; too bad I don't have it.
@grammarboy - ebay or amazon.com may have that movie....(may I suggest getting it through the BFN website? LOL...(shameless plug)
