Far to often when I'm public speaking, I find myself in a state of organized chaos all the way up until the presentation is over. Then, I get into a state of needing to chill out - as the adrenaline rush doesn't hit until it's all over. In speaking with several other people who deal with public speaking, they have told me that they are very similar in their nature - either "panicking" before a speech - or afterwards.
I guess I just push on through while the presentation happens, then when it's all calm - I deal with the rush.
I've read that people handle crisis in various ways, quite similar to how myself and others deal with public speaking. Which leads me to ask:
Do you panic prior to resolving a crisis? Or panic after a crisis is over?

i panic before. most def
Depends on the crisis. I try not to panic but sometimes it happens.
Prior. I had a couple of weeks just plain chock full of crisis and I've been in perpetual panic mode. Heck, I was dreaming about it! I can finally relax now and am realizing exactly how much pain and insanity I've put my body through just by panicking.
Um...both?
I am sure it depends but I have been told that I tend to appear calm in crisis. But that is always in situations that I don't consider a crisis. For example, the earthquake in Japan. . . that is a crisis and I would be anxious. But so many other situations are not really a crisis.
