People blog, some people don't, but we all have a message we want to share - or at the very least want to record somewhere. Others don't want to share things online, but we all have an opinion about something. We also want to express our opinions and connect with other people....(or at least feel as though we are not alone in some respect).
With the advent of online media, and the hundreds of sites out in the world where we can connect, there has become some levels of standards of what to expect with communicating online.
Most companies utilize Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube - along with their own website blog (and/or updates).
The concept of a hashtag # or username @ symbol has started with Twitter, then onto facebook - and now on Xanga and other platforms.
Each platform (website) has it's own pros - and cons. For Example:
Facebook is good to connect with people - but not great for blogging (ie - sharing a complete concept or thought)
Twitter is good to share links about topics. - but after 140 characters - you're silenced
Youtube is...well...you know....all about video - great for Vlogging...but not really a blog...right?
and so forth.
Xanga allows us the flexibility to express ourselves, and is great for Blogging. We can share a complete thought, connect with others (albeit not like facebook), and share our youtube videos.
What I like is that sense of flexibility - allowing us to share across multiple platforms. After all, we all have different parts of us we want to express in a certain way....right?
We are not all die hard religious (or anti-religious)....nor are we all a parent (or not a parent)...in short....
We all wear different hats at different times and we want to share our thoughts and ideas in different ways.
Having that sense of flexibility in an online world allows us to do just that....
I encourage Xanga Team to allow further development for us to share across multiple platforms - such as us having options for:
-Twitter and Xanga Pulse to somehow connect to each other
-Use a URL to share Youtube Videos (or other popular video sites)
-sign into the xanga platform via facebook (if we want)
Again, just options to provide flexibility for those of us who want it. And for those who don't - they can opt out and things would remain for them the way they want it.
Just a thought....
now back to the grind....

Nice summary - I love the suggestions and I hope xanga team takes them into consideration.
First off, I like the direction you suggest Xanga to go to network with the various social networks. They will improve the ability to share the blogs with other people via these social networks.
I know I have been on record for expressing my opposition for this, especially on your last pulse, but the pulse has fewer characters than twitter, and wasnt able to express fully my opinion on the matter. Having seen Xanga evolve through the years has had its pros and cons of it all. The material blogged about has been diluted, as people have gone from blogging about matters that are important to them to making their blogs the center of all drama. I admit, I dont use much of the other features, as I use the original social networks for those features, so my opinion is probably void. That being said, nothing about the social network aspect was ever original with Xanga: the layouts, formats, pulses, and #hashtags were all stolen from other popular sites. I want Xanga to come up with something original and unseen. Facebook today just revealed that they are "stealing" the Skype video chat to allow people to chat with their friends (a direction I see Xanga going in the future, Im sure). I initially took a hiatus from Xanga when they were evolving into a social site and literally copying the format that Myspace took... As I say this, I understand the importance of having to evolve to stay competitive with the pop culture, but Xanga has made no attempt to bring anything unique (aside from the blogging itself) that will lure people to its site. I want them to prove they are better than ripping off the ideas that other people have to improve their site. Im done ranting now. LoL
I agree with you on how nice it is there are so many different platforms. I used to think I had to stick with just one, but then I realized that one is not necessarily better than all the rest. Rather, each site has an aspect that allows sharing in a different way. You get to choose to use whichever one suites you best. I like that I can pick from day to day the site that happens to suite my needs at that time.
@bmojsilo - Thanks. I hope they do. It seems they are slowly moving in that direction.
@Diary_of_a_fatman - There is much that you and I do agree with, and I do remember when Xanga was more of a music and book review site. Their focus is about blogging and I expect it to remain that way. I think that's where their focus will be about enhancement of blogging in order to remain competitive.
I just like the flexibility Xanga does offer, and they do listen. Your opinion is not void, in fact I think Xanga team listens to much more than we take them granted for - it's just there are millions of us and they have to figure things out.
I hope they do the right thing...and I expect they will.
@galadrielspitcher - yeah, I sometimes use one site more than others....I do have a blog on each xanga network site...go figure. :)
How about just start off basic and offer an Android app? I don't have an iPhone or iAnything, but I'm guessing there's no app available for that platform either. I think if they made it easier to blog on the go, people would use that feature.
The m.xanga.com site is just a slap in the face to all of us that have been paying members of Xanga for years! They are wasting all this effort on momaroo, lovelyish, autisable, and whatever else.... I don't even know what the relationship is with all this extra junk and/or why I am even looking at this stuff when I access Xanga.
Here's an idea, you are taking people's money....how about putting that to work by UPDATING/IMPROVING FREAKING XANGA. I was all about Xanga when it was newer and getting off the ground. I was more than happy to fork over my cash to help them out and to get premium access....
Now that I have premium, WHY THE HELL do I still have ads to view on pages (home page is one example)? Why when I go to someone else's blog do I see ads on their area? m.xanga.com is good for not much more than posting blips. You still can't upload pictures.....
Mobile versions of websites should have been set up years ago. Isn't that part of the whole web 2.0 thing? I don't know. Today, we should be more worried about getting apps up for mobile platforms, not finally getting around to coding a mobile web interface.
Like I said, I don't know what the purpose of all these other interconnected websites is. I'm guessing Xanga was around first, but I don't know. Call me old fashioned, but I think you should focus on what's working (Xanga), and stop wasting time on the other stuff. Once Xanga is polished, fine....create all the other spin offs (how hard is that to do anyway?).
*two thumbs up* :D
That's right!! Great opinion!! Thanks for your sharing!!
