  • Dealing with Addictions

We may all have something that we are addicted to - for some it's the internet (Xanga? Facebook?), but for others it's more debilitating.

I was blessed to grow up in a home where both parents were present, but that would not have been the case unless my father became sober.  He celebrates over 37 years of sobriety from Alcohol.   I heard first hand from those who are addicts about how they've lost all sense of time, or even families.

The above picture shows just the effects of Methamphetamine.   What's sad is I know of only a few people who have dealt with this level of addiction.... and it's always been damaging to the family and friends of the person involved.

If you are anyone you know is dealing with Addictions, I can only encourage to seek help.  Once help is received, please continue with the only focus of making it one day at a time.

Those closest do care and want the best for you.

    Thanks for listening.

I am so happy you posted this...

I just finished a diary (hand written) from the pov of a meth addict (also sex addict, painkiller addict) during this time of writing his diary, I litearally did enormous ammounts of research on meth and became aware of the absolute horrific thing it is.

Last night, I was watching "addicted" as I wrapped it up at 2AM (writing) and one of the episodes was about a meth addict/heroine addict... I literally just broke out sobbing watching her try to find a vein and bleeding just to feel the high...

    I couldn't believe it...

I understand too, that's what's so frightening... We ALL have addictions (as you said) and because of that, we can understand someone else's even if it's not something that we'd ever personally do... So terrible...

wow. Its harsh but some people would rather turn their head than want to deal or read with addicts. Love the blog

It takes a strong person to really love an addict.  If you love an addict you have to love a person that desires their addiction more than anything else in their life.  It takes a special kind of person to stay there until an addict decides that they are ready to love themselves more than they do their drug (addiction) of choice.  I think some people aren't turning their backs, they are protecting themselves.  You can only watch a person destroy themselves for so long before you start to go down with them.
