So, do you see it? Thank @notforprophet for that suggestion
So - @notforprophet made a suggestion that I passed along to @thexangateam - "Can Xanga put a short message and link to crowdhoster at the top of the page whenever someone logs into their private Home page?" -
The XangaTeam needs to update in a new post with the crowdhoster link much more prominent. I go back to the XangaTeam's last post now and then to see the progress of donations' completion on crowdhoster. And I have to dig dig deep into the narrative before I find the link among other Xanga links. It is very confusing. "
Your suggestions - their responses.
It's how we will work together to make things happen.
So, do you see their notice when you sign in? I did!
Great Idea @notforprophet ! I hope I conveyed your message effectively.

Still waitin' for any screenshots of the Xanga² site (hopefully it's at least under construction now).
BTW, you've still got =10= questions on your dinner plate back at MY SITE mister afore you can get any PIE !
@dw817 - apologies, trying to address several things at once. I thought I already answered your questions in direct message - unless I completely missed something.
That was a good idea. The Relaunch Xanga rotates with a plug for Xanga Premium. Since people can't get Premium anymore, why don't they just take out the plug for Premium. The other thing they should consider is to make it more prominent on the Xanga front page. Toss out the "upgrade your site" and put the Relaunch plug there.
I don't see it on my site.
@edlives - Well, I can ask 'em here if you like. And yes, correction, you did answer two of 'em so there's 8 left instead of 10.
[1] Xanga is raising $60,000. Can I ask where all that is going to spent ? And I mean details ! If we're gonna donate this money do we really all know where it is going to ?
[2] Is answered sufficiently.
[3] Is Xanga really going to be shut down COLD on July 15th of this year ? What will happen to the site and all the work for people who have been blogging there for free ?
[4] if Xanga does NOT reach their $60,000 goal, how do they plan to pay back the people who gave them money ?
[5] If Xanga does reach their goal, how soon will the new site be ready ? As bloggers, we =WILL= be without homes, doesn't matter if we paid - we will be without a place.
[6] These donations, are any of them being applied towards a down-payment of the new home in the 2nd Xanga, especially for people who have been blogging for free ?
[7] What is going to happen to the sites that decide not to pay (either donation or down payment ?) I don't think it would be a good idea to remove them cause a good chunk of Xanga and exploration in it is made up of these people who have blogged free for years.
Do you really want to remove our homes ? Why not leave them all open on the new site and give us a month to decide on what we wanna do with it.
[8] This question has been answered sufficiently.
[9] Why aren't we being offered the same nifty thing on the new site we were here ? Where all new members get premium for a month, all sites are transferred in this, and then we get to decide from there ?
[10] Why isn't the CEO or some super-important person answering all these crazy questions and showing us models of stuff being built and junk which I know has gotta be on Xangan minds ? Where is he !?
And Joel, as you know I had =MANY= more questions besides the ones I wrote in my article, but this will be fine for now.
@dw817 - I thought I did respond to these - but let's try again:
[1] Xanga is raising $60,000. Can I ask where all that is going to spent ? And I mean details ! If we're gonna donate this money do we really all know where it is going to ?
- from their fundraising page - *The costs of setting up new hardware at a new data center/hosting facility *The costs of programmer/webmasters to get the site up and keep it running *costs of running the site day to day
[3] Is Xanga really going to be shut down COLD on July 15th of this year ? What will happen to the site and all the work for people who have been blogging there for free ?
Answer - IF $60,000 is NOT reached by July 15th, then yes - the site will be completely shut down. People have the opportunity to archive and download their blogs at this time (free or premium)
[4] if Xanga does NOT reach their $60,000 goal, how do they plan to pay back the people who gave them money ?
Answer - NO money is charged from people's pledges UNLESS Xanga reaches the $60,000 goal.
[5] If Xanga does reach their goal, how soon will the new site be ready ? As bloggers, we =WILL= be without homes, doesn't matter if we paid - we will be without a place.
Answer - As soon as possible. They don't a lot of downtime either, but they will need some time to transfer data files over and to test the site, etc..
[6] These donations, are any of them being applied towards a down-payment of the new home in the 2nd Xanga, especially for people who have been blogging for free ?
This question is similar to question #1.
[7] What is going to happen to the sites that decide not to pay (either donation or down payment ?) I don't think it would be a good idea to remove them cause a good chunk of Xanga and exploration in it is made up of these people who have blogged free for years.
Answer - All account information (sign in/login's and subscriptions) will still be migrating to the new system. Everyone will be able to read and comment and interact. However, Premium accounts and accounts affiliated with donations will have their blogs moved.
Do you really want to remove our homes ? Why not leave them all open on the new site and give us a month to decide on what we wanna do with it.
Answer - Xanga's cannot operate in the same home - both software with this platform, and also with the hardware facility. Just to purchase new equipment and have a new facility, along with transferring millions of accounts worth of data costs a lot of money. The attempt here is to save the site, and then in the process to also upgrade.
The decision has to come prior to July 15th on what everyone wants to do.
[9] Why aren't we being offered the same nifty thing on the new site we were here ? Where all new members get premium for a month, all sites are transferred in this, and then we get to decide from there ?
Answer - 1st part - This platform is not conducive to easy change and programming anymore, it is old and becoming quickly outdated. 2nd part - good suggestion - wish I could answer more on that one.
[10] Why isn't the CEO or some super-important person answering all these crazy questions and showing us models of stuff being built and junk which I know has gotta be on Xangan minds ? Where is he !?
Answer - John is working with the engineers to get some things for us to see. I've asked them to respond directly with at least a quick update from their end. All we can do is wait on that note. We should be receiving an update this week.
@edlives - This answers a bit and it does darken my scope slightly by what you avoided answering directly - wish it was better. Now if I can please one more (and this will help others):
Are any of the original pages and posts of the non-paying members going to be transferred at all to the proposed new site ?
I am looking for one answer here, YES, NO, or PROVISIONALLY. You definitely did not give me a straight answer on #3.
I asked this directly above (twice I think) and you deliberately avoiding answering this question directly by stating what paid members will receive - I know what paid members will receive (provided this deal goes through and I hope it does) - so you force me to use this method of inquiry.
Joel. I wish you could just give a straight answer at times, there is nothing at this point to hide except the truth - and that is all we want here. Honesty is the best policy, remember ? I wrote about that. *Frustrated*
@dw817 -

------------
The answer is NO to original pages and posts.... However...
The account information of non-paying members (login information/subscriptions) will be transferred over to the new system. This is why Xanga has opened the availability to archive to ALL members, so they can save their blogs/posts.
That is the straight answer.
@dw817 - I did ask thexangateam a similar question to yours: "Can you take your downloaded archive and upload it into future Xanga² and recover your site should you decide by not paying here, you pay there at the expected $4/month amount ?"
The answer I received was "yes" - that should be possible. But it may be a manual process. I think it was shown in my round 1 Q & A with them.
@edlives - Thanks Joel. People need to know this. I know it seems like a simple question - but it is an important answer that you give here. I appreciate that.
Your extended answer above does open another query though. Can you take your downloaded archive and upload it into future Xanga² and recover your Online site through this means should you decide by not paying here, you pay there at the expected $4/month amount ?
And yes, I know peoples' accounts will be transferred (if not their posts), and that is kind and courteous of Xanga to do so. Truly some of those accounts could be culled as well for their age so some new aliases can be opened up. I know some members said they couldn't use particular aliases cause they were in use by someone who hadn't logged in for over 5-years.
