  • Day 13 of 45,   pretty good so far.

  • I get my $ in 2 more weeks. I want to keep prem on 2 blogs, I assume I click separately for each one for the $48 thing..? Will have to let the rest go, I'm not that rich, sadly. Have other paid accounts like photobucket & widgetbox and trackers, etc. I'm not a 'skins' person, prefer writing my own html for wallpaper & header, crossing my fingers it all still works after transfer. Saving backup html just in case. My Lexx galaxy background (grandfortuna) & shooting stars carry over to phone display (I have droid), love having that capability. Do we know yet if protected blogs will stay protected if premiums aren't purchased ahead of time?

  • @bluejacky - Good question, I don't know.   I would think that all blog posts will migrate over and put into the new system - we still have yet to be told the specifics on process.

Since Xanga 2.0 is using the wordpress engine - there are many more options to express yourself and organize your blog.   From the look and feel, to having things organized by topic... much more versitile than what we have now.
No matter what you plan on doing, and what they are specifically doing - archive all your blogs (and download your archives as a backup).  It's just a good practice to keep - especially when major changes are happening.

  • @edlives@bluejacky - BlueJacky does bring up a good point, Joel. Currently my website is on, "Friend's Lock." It is that way to keep out persistent spammers and trolls. For those paying members (such as myself), will we have the same status when future Xanga² arrives ?

Some posts are protected so only the user can view them. It won't be good if future Xanga² shows up and has no security for any of the posts that are transferred (like airing out dirty underwear), and I did not see any flags or HTML key code references in the direct downloads to show this status).

As for me, I would certainly like to request now that the security status of my posts at least be maintained when they appear on the new site. I am on Friend's Lock and I am blocking certain personages from viewing or writing me additionally. All of these elements need to be considered in what I'm going to now call THE GREAT MOVE.

  • @dw817 - Instead of friend's lock I would rather have the option to delete comments on my blog. That is a guaranteed way to remove spam. Nothing is better than self censorship plus I wonder what powers the volunteers get? When I volunteered for xanga back in the old days I could rate the blog on moral content too.

  • @PPhilip - Friend's Lock admittedly is overkill from what I wanted. Actually just having the ability so only friends can leave comments would've been good enough for me. And as you know, Xanga didn't have it nor did they even make any attempts to get it, and as you (further) know, I tried to write my own. [Link]

It's nice to know I won't ever have to complete that monstrous project. Even I thought it was getting too complex and difficult to work with. *Grin*

Interesting what you mention ? You could rate blogs on morality ? Hmm ... how would you rate one of my Daily Blogs where I talked about life and stuff ?
