Addressing Xanga's Facebook Insights
Sometimes we have to take an Historical perspective, and see what has gone on, and what potential we have as a community.
Xanga created this facebook page back in 2008 - and it has been awhile since it was used.
We won't dive into why they didn't use the facebook page that much. The bigger issue is that they handing the reigns over to Xangans to take care of it.
So, let's dive into some of the insights (reports) that facebook provides... (note picture above)
The first jump in Xanga facebook page activity happened prior to June 4th. This shows that people looked to Xanga's facebook page to see if there is anything going on - I would assume this initial jump was because of thexangateam's announcement and what the community and other people started to share. People will search companies facebook pages when they are in the news.
Then, Xanga handed the reigns over to Xangans. The big jump occurred after June 4th. With just a couple of posts per day - over 22,000 people are reached (this is more than who actually 'liked' the page).
With over 1,000 people talking about Xanga on facebook - and with 21,000 likes - our actual reach is close to 24,000 people.
But there is that other figure - this is potential reach... 5.4 million people. This is our potential initial viral reach.
When someone suggested that we are only reaching out to past and present Xangans - that is only partially true. We are, in fact, re-establishing where we are at - and will continue to make the Xanga presence known to the rest of the internet. More involvement with Twitter and Pinterest are on the table (stay tuned).
And we just dusted off the page to see what's going on under the hood.
Many might think that Xanga doesn't have a future. I disagree.
In less than a week - the facebook page with it's few posts per day - show that people are still interested, and they want to see Xanga succeed.
This past week we've been setting up the facebook page - getting a feel for the audience there - and coming up with a game plan.
There will be more tweaks with the page as we move forward.
My point?
TheXangateam wants to work with Xangans to make Xanga better - and by the reports showing after one week - this works.
We're just getting started.

I agree -it's going well.
Keep up the good work, sir.
I wish I had those numbers on my candle page
That's awesome!!
A non-xanga friend of mine just sent me the link to this post in a FB message. The word is getting out!
@CaKaLusa - Thanks... you too.
@crazy2love - what's the URL to your candle page?
@saintvi - seriously? That's awesome. How'd they hear about this post?
@edlives - I'm not sure, but I'll ask when I see her tomorrow.
@saintvi - cool, thanks. Always curious how some folks here about things.
@edlives - It is https://www.facebook.com/cksavoryscents
It looks like you folks are doing some thing right. Thanks for jumping in.
@edlives - I'm currently experimenting with Blogster. A Xangan friend of mine told me about it. I posted a brief blog on my Blogster page and I immediately got responses. The site seems user friendly and has some okay themes. There's also widgets and a few other features. I MIGHT stay at Blogster. Hopefully, this will be the last blog move for me because I'm tired of bouncing from blog site to blog site. These last 2-3 weeks have been draining me like you wouldn't believe. I honestly lost count of blogging/social media sites, that I've experimented with, since the time of Xanga's shutting down announcement. LOL!
If you think about it, this is a fantastic opportunity. Not only move Xanga to a WordPress powered platform but truly re-engineer it to be a blogging site for the next decade. We could get a lot of interest and significantly revitalize the site.
@christao408 - BINGO! you got it!
@RealistMe - You are dealing with the challenge of having a free blog. I'll share more about the trials and tribulations of 'free blogging sites' again soon. Good luck on where you end up going.
@edlives - Thanks!
