  • Day 19 - The Campaign Continues

     

    In case you've been living under a rock, and didn't see it - yesterday @thexangateam provided us an update -

    They answered many questions, and will be answering more.   @john also shared on why there was a delay.

    Please keep the team encouraged during this time, they will need all the support they can get.

     

    What's coming per the update?   More marketing.    From pics to videos, our efforts will be on promoting Xanga 2.0 - this fundraiser and what's to come.

     

    Some clarification was provided regarding donation amounts... ANY amount can be donated  - just the minimum was changed from $48 down to $1 - some have given $3 or $5.

    Backers  292 (19 more since yesterday)      

    $27,711 of $60,000   - we are at 46.18% to Goal  (an increase of  1.90% from yesterday)

    Still to raise:  $32,289

  • @tjordanm - That information can be found on the fundraiser page.

  • @edlives - It's pretty vague

  • @tjordanm -  hopefully this may break it down a bit more...

    *The costs of setting up new hardware at a new data center/hosting facility.       - this is the bulk of what the fundraising campaign efforts are for.  The lease is up on the current place and it's too costly to keep Xanga.com up in that facility.
    *costs of programmer/webmasters to get the site up and keep it running.      - new people will be needed to help get Xanga transfered to the new facility and to launching and maintaining.   They will need some funds from the campaign to get people hired initially (my assumption) so they can get started on 2.0.
    *costs of running the site day to day.       - this is just to help cover overhead costs and future growth.
    I'd expect more specific details to come as the campaign moves forward.  We're already getting more information on what to expect from yesterday's blog post, and we'll get even more as we move forward.

  • @edlives - That's the vague part. Should I write a post analyzing some of those possible costs, or will Xanga address it in more detail?

  • @tjordanm - you can if you want. but I don't think it's necessary. I would expect them to share more details in the days to come.
