Day 20 - The Campaign Continues
We're about halfway through this fundraising campaign and have already raised almost 47% of the funding.
We've done great in the first half of this campaign - the rest of this week is gearing up for the remainder of this campaign, so there's still more work to do...
To recap what we are expecting soon: (from @thexangateam update - http://thexangateam.xanga.com/773948785/update-on-our-relaunch-xanga-fundraiser/ )
- pics and vids of what they've developed so far with Xanga 2.0
- Not only to inform us of what they are doing, but what we can include in blogs to share through our social media outlets
- relaunch Xanga buttons for us to put on our blogs and elsewhere
- for profile pics, sharing, etc...
- e-mail campaign to premium members
- Premium members have confirmed e-mail addresses that will have less of a chance to bounce back and cause the sender to be flagged as spam.
- more press outreach
There are a lot of questions still. Many in regards to archiving data, or how to donate.
Several have asked about alternatives to donate, like mailing in a pledge - which Xanga doesn't accept at this time.
Alternative? Purchase a Visa gift card (which is like a credit card) from Wal-Mart or your local grocery store - and utilize that card when pledging to the fundraiser.
The $1 minimum donation was adjusted based on feedback from the community. You can pledge ANY amount from $1 on up.
(the only caveat is the reward levels. Example: if you pledged $47, you couldn't claim the reward for $48)
--------Xangan Media Push-------------------
Bottom Line today? Get ready to write some blog posts to share these upcoming videos and pics they will be passing along to us.
Don't just share them here on Xanga, share also on Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, and every social media outlet you have!
If you don't have other social media outlets - feel free to leave a comment or connect with @myxldove and I with the link to your blog post - We'll see what we can do to share it on Xanga's Facebook page.
If you're on Facebook - here's Xanga -

Waiting on this especially, this will make or break future Xanga.
@dw817 - I don't think it will make or break the future - but I do think it could seriously help the current situation.
I hear and understand where you're saying. I would expect that a preliminary look and update will be shared - to show the vision of what they want to do. As we move forward, and as the community gets more involved in the process - I would expect things to dramatically improve from what they will initially give us.
Our main focus now is to ensure that Xanga 2.0 even has a chance to happen. The goal of reaching 60K is to keep our head above water and get the opportunity as a community to make what we have even better.
Whatever they give us will just be a starting point. I'm sharing this so you can be prepared that as we move forward - we as a community will be working with Xanga Team closer to improve the platform even more.
Great work in keeping us posted.
Ooo, Pinterest! Cool. There's the weheartit.com too. I mean that's just pics I guess. Um Yahoo had a article/video on what's popular online with teens. I don't know if that would help or not. I think the only two things besides facebook and twitter I recognized were tumblr and instagram.
I don't really do well with change. I only initially signed up on facebook so that I could help my mom understand how to use the site because she was always asking me questions. The only other site besides xanga I've ever really been into that wasn't trying to sell me something was whquestion. That bit the dust a long time ago.
